Microsoft Outlook is slowly recovering from a significant disruption that started yesterday evening. At the time, Microsoft's status page indicated that they had identified a recent change that could be causing issues with email sending, receiving, and searching in Outlook.com. The company stated that they were working to determine the necessary steps to restore access to the service.
It was later reported that the outage primarily impacted users in North America, and that the company was actively working to restart the affected infrastructure. An update later revealed that other functions, such as the Calendar, were also impacted, which in turn affected Microsoft Teams and other products.
As of 9:30 a.m. EST, Microsoft reported that the majority of the impact has been resolved, with service availability at 99.9%. The company continued to monitor the situation and perform targeted restarts on the back-end mailbox components to ensure complete recovery for all users. However, as of 10:30 a.m., Downly.net was still reporting outages.
